1. What is EcoEgg?

   We built EcoEgg to provide a consolidated source for environmentally focused news, information, and entertainment. We select the best from the Web and mix in exclusive original content to educate the public on our current environmental crisis which will define our time. We want to help you join the fight for a sustainable future.

2. You don’t have a lot of features?

   More features means more resources — more people, computers, and energy. The list goes on and on, but we have a very specific goal and wish. Our goal is to give you green news in as an efficient manner as we can. Stay as long as you like, enjoy, and be informed. Our wish is that you take that information and do something positive with it in the real world.

   If we tried to make EcoEgg.org a game the only thing we would achieve is the burning of more coal to power our servers in California. We aren’t trying to sell your eyeballs to the highest bidder here. We don’t ask for donations either. We are an ad supported business, but we aren’t trying to be part of the Matrix. Get your news, leave a comment, tell a friend, and make a difference in the real world. Don’t worry, it took some of us on the team a while to get that too

3. Can’t I just Google or go to YouTube for environmental videos?

   You can and we encourage you to look for the latest information on what is going on in this environmental revolution. If you find something interesting and would like to see it posted on EcoEgg.org you can use the “Submit a Story” link at the bottom of the page. Joining EcoEgg.org has additional advantages…

4. How do I join? What happens after that?

   Click the “Register” link above, it will take you to the simple registration page. Once registered you can set an avatar picture to go along with all your comments. EcoEgg.org is a light weight community. We are not trying to be the next Facebook or waste your time. We just want you to have access to news that you can use

5. What is this “Popularity” percentage at the bottom of posts?

   The popularity display you see:

   Popularity: 27%

   is the rank of that post or page compared to the other posts and pages on the site. Since page view counts, etc. are cumulative, newer posts will generally have lower popularity values than older posts. This, of course, evens out over time. The values for different events (page views, feed views, comments, etc.) all contribute to the rank of the content. The system is designed to help you find the best content on EcoEgg.org without having to do a lot of extra work like meaningless rankings. Popularity is based on real traffic, not just individual impressions.
