A rehabilitated golden eagle was released back into the wild today at Fort Lincoln State Park. The golden eagle, a cousin to the bald eagle, gets its name from the golden colored feathers on the back of its neck. This bird was found weak and thin in eastern Hettinger County in late July. The eagle was suspected of having West Nile virus and was moved to the Dakota Zoo.
